Bayern Munich willing to wait & snap Harry Kane up for free

In what seems to be a bold tactic by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, they are willing to wait for Harry Kane’s contract to expire before making a move to secure the striker’s services. The Bavarians have been long term admirers of Kane and have also publicly expressed their interest in the Englishman even though no significant progress has been made due to the 150 million pounds price tag put by Spurs.

According to Christian Falk of Bild, “Currently they (Bayern) are building on an extension with Choupo-Moting. Harry Kane is still interesting for Bayern, but is currently difficult to implement financially for the coming summer. It wouldn’t be the worst situation for Bayern if Kane let his contract with Tottenham expire. If Choupo was extended, the record champions could also wait until 2024 for the England captain.”

After the departure of Robert Lewandowski last summer, Choupo Moting was handed the responsibility of leading the line as the Bavarians did not sign any other striker as replacement. The club is working towards extending the contract of Choupo Moting as he is the only no.9 they currently have in the squad but are on the hunt to find a world-class striker.

The England captain isn’t linked to another club for the first time as he has garnered attention from other clubs before too. Last summer a 100 million pounds offer from Manchester City was rejected by club chairman Daniel Levy as the American was determined to keep his star striker at the club. As he reaches his 30s and the twilight of his career, the striker will definitely ponder upon his future as he is yet to win any silverware throughout his club career despite his personal achievement winning the Premier League golden boot 3 times.

According to various reports, Manchester United are seriously interested in signing Kane this summer and are willing to splash the cash. This would be bad news for Bayern Munich as the Red Devils’ project could be more than convincing for Kane to move to Manchester and work under Erik Ten Hag.

It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy will finally let go of Kane this summer for a significant transfer fee as the player will have just 12 months left on his contract at the end of the current season or let him leave for free next season. It is highly unlikely the Lilywhites will be able to convince Kane to sign another contract extension as plenty of European clubs will be eyeing a move to sign the Englishman and the striker will definitely want to take a step up and play for elsewhere in which could be the last big transfer move of his career.
