The Brendan Rodgers era at Leicester City is over.
And while the past few months have been fairly terrible – the Foxes currently find themselves in the bottom three – Rodgers leaves having given fans plenty of brilliant moments down the years.
Here’s the pick of said moments…
27% possession, seven shots on target = a 5-2 win over the best team in England.
Rodgers’ Leicester City put in an all-time great counter-attacking performance when they travelled to the Etihad Stadium in September 2020, one which saw Jamie Vardy bag a hat trick and rattle Pep Guardiola beyond belief to the point where he dropped £60m on Ruben Dias a couple of days later.
You couldn’t ask for much more really.
The Foxes don’t exactly have European pedigree, but despite that Rodgers’ side were able to make it all the way to the Europa Conference League semi-finals last season.
The pick of the wins was their professional 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-finals.
9-0.
Yep, 9-0.
Leicester City recorded the joint biggest win in Premier League history and the biggest away win in English top-flight history in 2019 thanks to an all-time great performance.
This was peak Rodgers-ball at Leciester.
It’s fair to say that Leicester City were underdogs going into the Community Shield clash with league-winners Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in 2021.
And yet, despite being largely outplayed on the day, Leicester continued to be a bogey team for Man City by scoring an 89th minute penalty and securing their first ever Community Shield.
Not just the best moment of Rodgers’ reign, but one of the best moments in Leicester City’s history.
Up against a Chelsea team who would go on to win the UEFA Champions League two weeks later, Leicester City recorded an incredible Wembley victory thanks to an all-time great FA Cup final goal from Youri Tielemans.
