Chelsea have failed with an opening approach to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.
The west London giants have spent over £150 million in the current transfer window and there could be more arrivals in the coming days.
They have already signed two wingers in Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk, but also have their sights on pursuing Madueke from PSV.
The Blues have made an opening bid of around £26m but PSV have clearly indicated that they want much more for the former Spurs graduate.
The Eredivisie outfit recently sold Cody Gakpo to Liverpool for £37m up front and they are eyeing a similar fee for the England youth international.
It is left to be seen whether Chelsea will pay the price. The Blues have the funds to spend, but need to take care of the Financial Fair Play limits.
This is a reason why they have signed Mudryk on a long-term deal. They plan to spread his payments over a period of seven-and-a-half years.
