Man Utd make Wout Weghorst summer decision

Wout Weghorst news

Weghorst won’t be signed permanently by United

Manchester United have decided against signing Wout Weghorst on a permanent deal from Burnley this summer.

The Dutch international joined the club from the Clarets in January. He has since scored just two goals from 21 games.

As a result, he has received criticism from some United fans and Football Insider claim that the club won’t purchase him.

Instead of retaining Weghorst’s services, the onus is on pursuing a marquee striker during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is obviously the main target for United but they also have alternatives in mind.

The hierarchy are keeping tabs on Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos, who have netted 25 goals apiece this season.

Hence, United have probably made the right decision on Weghorst, who has failed to capitalise on his incredible opportunity.

Weghorst could still continue in the Premier League. Burnley are now back in the top-flight and they may keep his services.

The Dutchman has not closed the door on rejoining the Clarets.
