Most attacking players either create goals or score goals – but stars from PSG, Manchester City and Napoli are among those that do noth.
We’ve compiled a list of the top 10 players from Ligue 1, the Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga and Serie A in terms of their combined goals and assists contributions.
We doubt you’ll be too surprised at the identity of number one…
10. Wissam Ben Yedder (23)
The French forward is level with Alexandre Lacazette and Robert Lewandowski with 23 goal contributions (17 goals, six assists) but we’re giving him the nod due to a comparative lack of minutes played.
Ben Yedder is averaging a goal or an assist every 75 minutes for Monaco in Ligue 1 this season.
Very unlucky to miss out on Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus squad in the mid-season World Cup, given that kind of output.
9. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24)
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has received plenty of plaudits along the way for his starring role in Napoli’s sensational march to the Serie A title.
The Georgian winger has made light work of adapting to a new league after moving over from Rubin Kazan in the summer, notching 12 goals and 12 assists in his debut campaign in the Italian top flight.
We absolutely love him.
Danilo can’t get close to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia! 😲

8. Neymar (24)
Neymar looked set for the exit door at PSG in the summer with owner team-mate Kylian Mbappe reportedly unhappy about playing alongside the 30-year-old for much longer.
But the fulcrum of Brazil’s attack responded in the best possible manner; stopping the extra-curricular nonsense, rolling up his socks and chipping in with a remarkable 13 goals and 11 assists in just 20 appearances for Christophe Galtier’s side.
It’s especially impressive that he features in this top 10 when you consider his season ended prematurely back in February.

7. Jonathan David (16)
The Canadian forward has been in fine form for Lille this season, with 20 goals and four assists in 30 Ligue 1 appearances.
David has been consistently linked with a move to a bigger club in recent years. It would be no surprise to see him move on this summer, with Lille unlikely to qualify for the Champions League.
6. Randal Kolo Muani (16)
Randal Kolo Muani has been a lot of fun to watch for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.
The 24-year-old France international has responded brilliantly to missing that chance in the World Cup final. He’s now up to 13 goals and 12 assists in just 27 Bundesliga appearances this season.
5. Kylian Mbappe (25)
Only three players have scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues than Mbappe.
The PSG superstar has notched 20 goals in Ligue 1 this season and recently became his club’s all-time top goalscorer in the French top flight. Not bad going at the age of 24.
Mbappe also has a further five assists for good measure.
4. Harry Kane (25)
Had it not been for a free-scoring Norwegian robot, we’d all be raving about the season Kane is having right now. The Tottenham forward has scored 23 goals already, whilst also providing a couple of assists
It wouldn’t at all be a surprise if Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer ends the season inching towards his career-best tally of 30 Premier League goals, which he notched back in 2017-18.
3. Victor Osimhen (26)
Manchester United are said to be weighing up a move for Osimhen and it’s easy to see why. Napoli have been electric this season and he has been their main source of goals.
The 24-year-old has scored 21 goals as well as provided five assists so far. He’s helped Napoli effectively wrap up the Scudetto already and has been majorly missed in recent weeks.

2. Lionel Messi (29)
The obituaries were premature; Messi’s first season at PSG was low-key disappointing with just six goals and 14 assists.
Now a World Cup champion, we’ve seen a vintage Messi this season as the Argentine has chalked up 15 goals and 14 assists for the Ligue 1 champions-elect.
Messi is on fire at the moment.
Look at this assist from Mbappe 🤩
He puts it on a plate for Messi to finish off! 👏

1. Erling Haaland (37)
We’re already running out of words for Haaland’s jaw-dropping start to life in the Premier League.
Forget the sheer number of goals for a second; it’s the variety of his 32 strikes that have left English defenders quivering with fear. He’s also chipped in with five assists in City’s title charge.
He’s also an underrated comedy genius.
